Very sturdy peice of equipment

I like the fact that you can raise the arms out of the way. Those arms can be very annoying at the gym when doing pull-ups. Shipping took a little while and was a little “bruised” when it got here is only reason for 4 stars. Worth the money however. (weiderfitness.com)

I finally found the perfect workout machine., May 12, 2006

I’ve been looking for quite a while for an “all-in-one” home gym, to replace several pieces of gym equipment that I’ve been using regularly for several years: a Weider 8510 pulley-type machine, a Roman crunch bench; a Body by Jake; and free weights.

I looked at the “Total Gym” machine (the one pushed by Christie Brinkley and Chuck Norris). I went to their website and requested their free video; a few days later, I got a phone call from them, telling me that if I bought it that very day, I could save $100. “I want the video”, I said. I never got the video. That sent up “red flags” in my head for the Total Gym people. I resent being hustled.

Then I found this item, the Total Body Works 5000. I could not find a single negative review for it, anywhere.

I bought it. I love it. Even though I’ve been working out for years, I am impressed. It will help free up a lot of space in my basement!

I’m on my second one, now. The newer versions have thicker board padding, better quality vinyl, and some improvements in the wielding. The corners of the board’s vinyl will eventually start splitting still, but some black tape can solve this. It doesn’t really alter its function if you just let it happen without taping. Every few years the gym needs to be replaced as parts wear, but at these prices you could actually buy a new one each year and still be saving money compared to the competition. Certain parts will not wear, and you can take them off the old one and keep as spares considering how expensive buying each one is from Weider. Some caution is necessary on the single-pole stand. Make sure the peg is always securely in before getting on the machine. Also never let pets or children get anywhere close to that end when you’re using it. Finally, inspect the cable routinely for significant damage and replace it BEFORE the cable actually breaks. Never use it until failure. I do not work for this company, but am speaking from experience.

Got these hand wts. about 2 months ago and have been using on a regular basis. Strong point is being able to easily adjust the wts. for a varity of exercises. Good product would recommend strongly.

When ordering this item, I thought I was going to recieve two 25lbs dumbells. What I recieved was two 12.5LB dumbells – so this was a disappointment.

However, I do really like them, and they are very easy to use.

I am very pleased with the Weider PowerSwitch 25 lb.pair. It is very easy to switch from one weight to another and is done in a couple of seconds. I use them every day to help strengthen my Trapezius and Deltoid muscles. I find Weider products to be of good quality at an affordable price.

This system looks to be the same as the Healthrider Inversion Table System but with uglier colors. I bought the Weider for the $229.00 shipped, but now it’s more expensive now for whatever reason.

This is a nice machine and sturdy. My friend has a different companies and it feels pretty flimsy in comparison. Assembly took about 3-4 hours and a ratchet and sockets (17mm and 13mm) and a couple of wrenches are very handy. No torque specs provided for bolts, so be careful not to over tighten certain bolts or screws.

The back relief is evident the first couple of times I use it. I can immediately look over my left shoulder without the normal neck pain I’ve had lately. Be sure to follow instructions for use.

I’ve had lower back problems for about 20 years. It comes and goes with the weather–getting much worse just before thunderstorms or heavy snowfall, but it’s never completely gone. I have been to numerous chiropractics and to physical therapy. All of them offered temporary releif, but no permanent solution.

I bought this bench about two weeks ago and have used it two to three times a day, for 2 to 10 minutes each time. I have found exactly the same kind of temporary relief I got with chiropractics and PT, including more mobility than when I don’t use it. But unlike chiropractic care, I only had to pay for this once. Then I could use it at will.

It is sturdy and comfortable, but once it’s together, the parts don’t line up as well as they could, and the little handle on the side that is used to adjust the angle doesn’t work well at all. I can only really get it into place for two of the positions, and I have to fight to do that. It’s possible that I could get it to work better if I took it apart and put it back together, but it’s way too difficult so I haven’t tried that yet.

It’s a nice bench if you have a space for it, but it’s very difficult to put together and, I’m sure, just as difficult to take apart, so don’t buy this one if you need a bench you can hide in the closet when guests come to visit. Once you build it, it’s there!
